The Art of Motion PEDRO x Toh Wei Soong The Art of Motion

Lap after lap, time after time.

Singaporean Paralympian Toh Wei Soong has always been in motion. A competitive swimmer since his teens, he has represented the nation on some of the world’s biggest stages. In the pool, motion is everything: measured, repeated, refined. But it’s precisely that sense of structure, that singular focus, that led him to look beyond it.

In collaboration with PEDRO, Wei Soong presents a series of hand-painted works, using select pieces from the Summer and Fall 2025 collection as his canvas. Each piece invites a slower kind of viewing. The object becomes surface, marked in sweeping gestures of black ink, left to dry where they land. The palette is restrained. The expression, instinctive.

Painted pieces for illustrative purposes only.

“There’s something about art
that allows for feeling without structure.
In sport, there’s always a system.
Here, there’s only instinct.”

The works reflect a desire to explore identity outside of function. His approach is expressive but never erratic. He is drawn to ink for its immediacy, its weight. Each stroke is considered, but never rehearsed. There is no draft, no repetition. Only a moment of contact between movement and material.

What emerges is a body of work that doesn’t seek to explain, only to express. It exists in the in-between: motion and pause, intention and release, the athlete and the artist.

Wei Soong doesn’t draw a hard line between the two. To him, both are ways of navigating the world. Both are physical, emotional, and ultimately human.

“I’ve come to see that these two sides of me aren’t opposites, they’re part of the same current.”

“I’ve come to see that these two sides of me aren’t opposites, they’re part of the same current.”

And in that current, he continues to move - one stroke at a time.
