Through explorations in shape and silhouette, 3D artist Eunyoung Kim’s designs serve to question the ever-changing construct of reality with her progressive integration of technology. Specializing in bringing the fantastical into our tangible reality, we discuss Eunyoung’s journey into the world of fashion, her approach to digitizing design, and her views on the future of the medium in an ever-expanding universe.

Let’s start with the roots of your design journey,
can you introduce yourself?
I’m Eunyoung Kim, the founder of Fresh Edition, a digital art company established three years ago. Through Fresh Edition, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate on various projects, including music videos, fashion shorts, and brand films. Some of the most notable projects include K-POP music videos for artists like New Jeans and BTS. However, it was my work with PEDRO that truly allowed me to showcase my artistic character.
What is your inspiration behind the collaboration
for PEDRO Icon Summer 2024?
I incorporated dynamic lighting effects to illuminate the iconic Icon monogram, enhancing its luminosity and captivating allure. By experimenting with a variety of materials, I aimed to unveil the diverse facets and tactile qualities inherent in the collection, for an immersive experience that celebrates its unique identity and timeless appeal.
How would you define your artistic style,
and what distinguishes your work from the rest of the field?
With a focus on commercial brand films and music videos, my work blends fashion and trendiness while prioritizing Fresh Edition’s distinct character – which is FUN. Each project has to maintain its brand identity while incorporating playful elements and awe-inspiring moments. The selection of the perfect sound is crucial, as it infuses each production with excitement and enjoyment.
How do you express your individuality through
your work and personal style?
I strive to embody the spirit of “new and fresh,” as reflected in my company name, Fresh Edition. Individuality, to me, isn’t about staying confined to a fixed personal frame. It’s about embracing fresh perspectives and evolving. Just like artworks can be interpreted differently depending on perspective, individuality is something to be interpreted rather than delivered.
When it comes to fashion in the future, what role
can you see 3D design playing in its presentation?
In my perspective, 3D art represents a form of liberation, breaking free from conventional boundaries and paving the way for a new era of marketing. The richness of expression in 3D art allows for deeper and more immersive product representations. Fashion, being a significant aspect of art, can undoubtedly benefit from this elevated form of expression, blurring the lines between artistry and innovation.
What qualities or characteristics do you believe
define an iconic 3D artist in the industry?
An iconic 3D artist in the industry is defined by their adaptability to changing trends and their ability to push the boundaries of design. Personally, I was drawn to this career because of the limitless possibilities it offers for creative expression, unconstrained by traditional studio settings. For me, that means having a boundless imagination and a passion for creating innovative designs that break free from convention.
